About Me

Dr. Tanawat Amphansap

Dr. Tanawat Amphansap is the chief of osteoporosis and geriatric excellence center, orthopedic department at Police General Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand. I am also the founder and leader of the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) at Police General Hospital and the president of Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) in Thailand.

Dr.Tanawat obtained my doctor of medicine (MD) from Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in 2004. I completed my fellowship in trauma surgery at Police General Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand (2011), in shoulder and elbow reconstruction at Charité Virchow Klinikum, Berlin (2012), and in hip reconstruction at Universitäts Klinikum Carl Gustav Carus, Dresden, Germany (2012), as well as an AOTrauma Fellowship at Kyungpook National University Hospital, Daegu, South Korea (2013). In 2019, I also attended a clinical fellowship program at the Academic Unit of Bone Metabolism Mellanby Centre for Bone Research at the University of Sheffield, UK.

Dr. Tanawat is a steering committee of numerous societies, including the FFN (AP) Regionalisation, the South East Asia Bone Academy (SEA-BA), the Asia Pacific Consortium on Osteoporosis (APCO), the Thailand Osteoporosis Foundation (TOPF), the Metabolic Bone and Orthogeriatric (MBOG) Section of the Royal College of Orthopedic Surgeons of Thailand (RCOST), and the FLS committee of Public Health in Thailand.

My research interests include epidemiology and prevention of fragility fracture, new innovation in knee osteoarthritis, public health aspects of calcium and vitamin D supplement, quality of life after fragility fracture, effectiveness of FLS and TBS innovation.
